Explosion in Maiduguri Kills 7

Yet another explosion has occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State. A total of 7 people were killed, and 8 others injured.

According to Channels TV, the bomb exploded on Wednesday night at a military check-point near a mechanic workshop, opposite sector one Military Base and NNPC mega station, on Baga road.

Disaster in Ghana as flood overtakes Accra + 78 killed at fuel station Photos

No fewer than 78 persons were killed after a gas station they ran to for shelter during heavy downpour went up in flames in Acrra, Ghana yesterday June 3rd. According to Ghana's Fire Service spokesperson, Billy Anagate, the fire started at the Neoplan Bus station at about 5.00pm and then quickly spread to the Goil gas station, causing an explosion which killed all the people taking refuge there. Bodies of the victims are still being evacuated from the scene of the incident.

Flood that resulted from the heavy downpour submerged some buildings and vehicles causing people to take refuge in the gas station. Most buildings that had caught fire from the explosion burned away into the night as 'floodwater around the site hindered recovery attempts. Some of the photos are very graphic. I'm absolutely sad to report that Rhythm 93.7FM PH on-air personality, writer and motivational speaker, Iphie Aggrey-Fynn was shot dead by armed robbers along Aba-Port Harcourt expressway yesterday. The Ghanaian-born OAP and blogger had gone to see her parents in Aba and was on her way back to Port Harcourt when their bus was attacked by armed robbers. As the driver attempted to speed away, the gunmen open fire on the bus, killing Ifeoma. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

Newborn baby found being 'eaten alive' by ants after being dumped in the woods

The photos had to be censored because they're quite graphic. An abandoned new-born baby, said to be about 3 days old, was discovered by a man in the woods being 'eaten alive' by ants. The man, who called police, said he heard the child crying while he was taking a shortcut to work through the woods on the outskirts of Chelyabinsk, a city in Russia. National Assembly Members to leave office with 109 SUVs, 360 Toyota Camry

Members of the outgoing 7th National Assembly will be taking along with them, 109 jeeps and 360 exotic cars provided as operational vehicles given to them when they assumed office as legislators.

The cars, 109 Prado Landcrusiers for Senators and 360 Toyota Camry 2011 model, are supposed to be returned to management of the National Assembly before the week runs out but according to an agreement reached with the National Assembly management, the Senators and the House of Reps members will pay 30% of the original cost of the cars so that those interested can keep the cars. The 30% will be deducted from their severance pay.

The Police in Borno said five persons died when a suicide bomber attacked an abattoir in Maiduguri on Tuesday. The Commissioner of Police in the State, Aderemi Opadokun, stated this when he spoke with journalists in Maiduguri. Mr. Opadokun said the attack occurred at about 11.30 a.m.
